Weddings in 2021 – Covid, ‘normal’, Covid? Weddings in 2021 started a bit late. The Covid-19 pandemic had not gone away, with the year starting with restrictions yet again. The third National lockdown in the UK. My final wedding of 2020 had been brought forward 24 hours before restrictions took effect pre-Christmas. After a socially distanced Christmas, the New Year saw some of my couples having to re-assess their plans, with many moving their wedding dates to later in 2021 and even on to 2022. Two Woods Estate, a unique outdoor wedding venue in West Sussex. Just off to the side of the old Roman road that linked Londinium (London) to Noviomagus Reginorum (Chichester). We call it the A29 now. Just south of the village of Billingshurst, so a local Sussex wedding venue to me. Bluebell Railway wedding for Laura and Charlie. Well, I say ‘wedding’, it’s in the generic sense, as this was actually a civil partnership ceremony in the waiting room at Horsted Keynes railway station. The first civil partnership I’ve photographed that has not been a same-sex ceremony, since the law changed for opposite-sex couples in December 2019. Cherry Barn wedding | Becca & Will
The Cherry Barn near Rye in East Sussex was the wedding venue of choice for Becca and Will. A day in August they had booked long before the Covid-19 pandemic. They booked me back in November 2019. In between weddings got hit hard. At first, no weddings were allowed, then just 15 people, 30 people, no dancing, no readings…etc. But they held their nerve and kept this August 2021 wedding date – the restrictions lifted just a few weeks before. Cornwell Manor wedding | Amelia & Pete
Cornwell Manor is a grand old house in the Cotswolds that sits within 2000 acres of land, including a church and the hamlet next to it, all privately owned. A big grade II listed, principally eighteenth-century mansion, that is available to be rented out for the weekend. Sleeps 24 people and comes with a live-in cook and housekeeper. A luxury wedding becomes a weekend experience. It was the location for two Australians, now based in London, to hold their wedding with family and friends. Small Wedding Photography Coverage Small wedding photography doesn’t mean less. In some ways, it can mean more. There is often a deeper intimacy in a small wedding that shows in the final images. Cain Manor wedding photography Cain Manor, an Elizabethan country house on the Surrey/Hampshire border and the location for a wedding that went ahead post lockdown, albeit downsized. September 2020, it was meant to have been in July. But instead of postponing to 2021 or beyond, Erin & Jon decided to go for a smaller wedding day at the same venue.
