Two Woods Estate, a unique outdoor wedding venue in West Sussex. Just off to the side of the old Roman road that linked Londinium (London) to Noviomagus Reginorum (Chichester). We call it the A29 now. Just south of the village of Billingshurst, so a local Sussex wedding venue to me. But although I’ve driven down this road so many times, a venue I had not heard of before Rhianna and Oli got in touch, despite living in Sussex for twenty years now. First enquiry for this Sussex venue, first booking.
Two Woods Estate – a wedding ceremony amongst the Redwoods
A 42-acre woodland estate in Sussex under new ownership, this a venue that will grow in the next few years because it is so unique. The main attraction is the ceremony space amongst 100 large Redwood trees. I’m told they were originally planted many years ago as part of an estate to harvest long straight wood for Telegraph poles. They are a lot bigger now. Like a little bit of California dropped into the Sussex countryside
With a large field in which to pitch a Tipi and tents for a relaxed wedding reception in the summer sunshine or the main barn if the reception needs to be indoors. The Barn, which has a loft above for bridal getting ready – a good big space – is a good-sized space for an indoor reception/meal, with a licensed bar! It even has a small stage, harking back to a previous life as a live music venue – The Blue Coconut Club.
Coverage starts in the Loft, Rhianna getting ready and a nephew not keen on wearing his suit – he hid under the bed. A wedding at Two Woods Estate in mid-October but no Autumn sunshine, which was a shame amongst the Redwoods. It was a touch dark there, the sky being so overcast but it’s not hard to imagine the dabbled sunlight surrounding a ceremony on a sunny day. Drinks after the ceremony before everyone made their way back to the barn for drinks. Warm enough for most people to stay outside.
After the meal, some tables cleared and the music started. Here are a few images from this relaxed wedding at the Two Woods Estate in Sussex…
