  • Wedding photography at Morden Hall

Morden Hall | Susie & Michael

Morden Hall wedding Morden Hall in South London, my first wedding shot there. Not sure I have ever had an enquiry for it before either? But I have been there before…a few years ago…when I won The Wedding Photographer of the Year – London & the South-East 2016, in The Wedding Industry Awards, for the second year running. The award ceremony was held at Morden Hall. It looked a bit different then. I’ve entered those awards I think five times, and won three times. An old house, with large grounds, backing onto the park, it seems out of place in…

  • Guests find the bridge at Easton Grange

Easton Grange wedding | Laura & Francis

Easton Grange wedding photography Easton Grange, a wedding venue in Suffolk with space and options. Options like if it rains, there is a big, bright barn to hold the ceremony in, rather than the outdoor amphitheatre. On this August day, with the humidity levels rapidly climbing, that is what happened. The decision was made to hold the ceremony indoors. It did get very humid, the dark clouds appeared but the rain in the end, pretty much passed on by. A few spots before the confetti run but later some glorious evening sunshine. This was a booking, like many, that came…

  • Confetti storm at Slindon House wedding

Slindon House | Beth & Daniel

Slindon House wedding Slindon House is a wedding venue in West Sussex, between Arundel and Chichester. It is also known, during the week, as Slindon College, an independent day and boarding school for boys aged between 8 to18. So a fitting venue for two teachers, Beth and Daniel, to hold their wedding in. I’ve been here before. A wedding reception only that time, but also a few times for The Times, as well as a family dinner some years ago. My wife’s late aunt grew up here, her father was the headmaster many years ago. A manor house with a…

  • Bride and groom at Ridge Farm wedding

Ridge Farm Studio | Amy & Simeon

Ridge Farm Wedding A Ridge Farm wedding is a local wedding for me. I live on the same road. Just that Ridge Farm is on the other side of Rusper village to my house, but only 4.5 miles away. (Local weddings – never be more local than the wedding I shot at my neighbour’s house in 2021!) Famous Recording Studio Ridge Farm is famous for being a recording studio from the mid-1970s until the early 2000s. Which is odd given the flight path from Gatwick Airport is very close? Maybe that changed? But there is a long list of names…

  • West Sussex wedding bride ready

West Sussex wedding | Bebe & Charlie

West Sussex wedding Late May, a warm and sunny day for this West Sussex wedding for Bebe and Charlie. When Bebe first sent me an enquiry, almost eighteen months before the wedding day, and I confirmed I was still available, she replied, “That’s great news! My partner and I both really love your style, I have been dreading the idea of having to pose.” That is what documentary/reportage wedding photography is about. Forget the camera, enjoy the day, and let the camera capture that, authentically. RYDE HOUSE, PETWORTH So the coverage starts at Ryde House in Petworth. A lovely Grade…

  • Wedding reception at the Romans Baths in Bath

Roman Baths | Naomi & Will

Roman Baths wedding A Roman Baths wedding for Naomi & Will – strictly a Bath Guildhall and Roman Baths wedding, ceremony and evening reception, in the city where they met. A ceremony in the Alkmaar room in the Guildhall – a former courtroom. Drinks reception and meal in The Banqueting Room and then a short walk to the Baths for evening drinks and dancing. Like many of my wedding bookings, this wedding has links to others. In this case, it starts with the wedding of Amy & Chris in 2015 at Nutfield Priory. The next is the wedding of Amy’s…

  • Old Luxters Barn

Old Luxters Barn | Christina & Nick

Old Luxters Barn wedding Old Luxters Barn is an old 18th-century barn located in the Hambleden Valley, just north of Henley-on-Thames. A quiet spot in the English countryside. My car’s sat nav decided to take me there on a convoluted route from Sussex. The barn is part of the Chiltern Valley Winery, Brewery and Vineyard. Customers clutching cases of drinks could be seen in amongst the wedding guests prior to the ceremony. The wedding ceremony, meal, speeches and dancing took place in the barn. The courtyard for drinks was warm enough to be outside in early October, with the Stretch…

  • Evening sparklers at Barnett Hill Hotel wedding

Barnett Hill Hotel | Emily & Sam

Barnett Hill Hotel wedding Barnett Hill Hotel, part of the Alexander Hotel Collection, is a 4-star luxury hotel in the Surrey Hills, above Wonersh and just south of Guildford. It’s pretty hidden, set on 26 acres and surrounded by woodland. A Queen Anne-style, but Edwardian mansion, built in 1905 by Frank Cook, the grandson of the travel agent, Thomas Cook. The Red Cross used it as a convalescent home during WWII and became their National Training Centre. Alexander Hotels bought the Grade II listed house in 2016, to join their portfolio of luxury hotels such as Alexander House, Great Fosters…
