Barnett Hill Hotel | Emily & Sam
Barnett Hill Hotel wedding
Barnett Hill Hotel, part of the Alexander Hotel Collection, is a 4-star luxury hotel in the Surrey Hills, above Wonersh and just south of Guildford. It’s pretty hidden, set on 26 acres and surrounded by woodland. A Queen Anne-style, but Edwardian mansion, built in 1905 by Frank Cook, the grandson of the travel agent, Thomas Cook. The Red Cross used it as a convalescent home during WWII and became their National Training Centre. Alexander Hotels bought the Grade II listed house in 2016, to join their portfolio of luxury hotels such as Alexander House, Great Fosters and Langshott Manor.
A wedding for Emily & Sam where everything took place on site. From getting ready to the evening party. Family and friends stayed at the hotel before and after the wedding. Coverage begins upstairs, where Emily was getting ready. Down below, in the modest-sized ceremony room, Sam was liaising with the celebrant, who used to be on breakfast TV – Debbie Greenwood.
Emily’s father came upstairs to collect his daughter and escort her down to the ceremony, where Sam was waiting at the end of the aisle. A short ceremony and then the guests gathered on the large terrace to form a confetti line down onto the lawn for the bride and groom. It was then drinks on the terrace and some very competitive, boys versus girls games on the lawn. Dinner inside and a slip on the steps from Emily as they were announced into dinner. Most guests didn’t see this mishap, just their wide grins as they entered. Dinner and speeches and then back onto the terrace as the evening party was prepared for. Once the light had faded, a sparkler run on the terrace before back to the dancing.
