Winter at Dewsall | Katherine & Marcus

Winter wedding at Dewsall Court
Dewsall Court, tucked away in the countryside just south of Hereford. One of my favourite venues. It’s like getting married in your own impressive country home (if you had a fair few bob in the bank). Far more atmosphere than most hotels (certainly any golf club). I’ve shot there in the summer. But in winter light, a test…
Katherine and Marcus had come from their home in London, for their wedding day at Dewsall. Not that far but it can still take four hours on UK roads. Dewsall Court sits just south of Hereford. It’s a unique canvas upon which to create your own wedding weekend, with family and friends. It’s worth the hours sat in traffic. Views of the Welsh hills, lush countryside, rainbows, sunshine and showers.
Lowlight reportage wedding photography
Coverage starts with Katherine surrounded by her large ‘team’ of bridesmaids – as hair and makeup took place in the bridal suite. Downstairs, in the study, Marcus took part in the tradition of some whisky with the rabbi. This may be the first instance of such a tradition. Plus, there was no real rabbi. Outside the weather was getting changeable and windier, as the wedding gusests were greeted with mulled wine and made their way across to the Wainhouse.
After the legal ceremony, a short nod to Katherine’s jewish heritage, a friend officiating. Marcus smashed the glass. Confetti outside in the bitter wind – a few quick portraits before the light disappeared. Then drinks in the house. Food and speeches back in the Wainhouse. A firepit and marshmallows for those brave enough and then dancing…

Stunning set Martin, full of emotion and happiness. Looks like a tricky venue in the winter but you’ve made it look amazing!
Wow Martin! This is stunning work! You have totally captured the atmosphere of a winter wedding. The light is gorgeous! Too many stand-out pics to mention, but pretty much everything during bridal prep, The bride’s reactions during the vows, veil blowing over her head, bride high-fiveing the guests (stunning shot!) and the discrete observations of the guests during the reception.
Wow dude! Such a great set of photo’s! I love all the documentary images…so good! The veil blowing shot has to be my fave though!
