North Yorkshire wedding photography
Last Saturday saw a North Yorkshire wedding for Anneka and Arthur. North Yorkshire is easily one of the most stunning landscapes in England, it was just a shame that the weather seemed to forget that it was June. Where there should have been blue skies and sunshine over that lush countryside, there was cloud cover and drizzle. With the subdued light outside and the lamps inside, the ceremony almost looked like a winter’s wedding. But, being England, everyone shrugged off the weather and enjoyed the day.
Anneka got ready with family and friends in a small village a few country lane miles away from the church – St Oswald’s. A small church begun in the eleventh century and named after the seventh century King of Northumbria and quite remotely located, away from the nearby village. No-one seemed entirely sure, not even the vicar, but this wedding was probably the first there for quite some time.
The reception was centred around a magnificent “Indian” or “Native American” (?) style tent, with one side left open for views across to the North Yorkshire Moors on the horizon. The sun did appear – for all of five minutes or so – but an open log fire inside the tent and a few furs kept any slight chill at bay. Laughing does that too. So the best man’s speech certainly kept people warm as he related Arthur’s chat-up line at medical school. (See if you can spot the moment, but reassemble these words…Arthur…as in…King Arthur! ) 😉
Rather than a formal first dance, Anneka and Arthur led off the cèilidh on the cosy dancefloor. After cutting the cake but before the cover band, Anneka then had a surprise for the groom. She had a song to sing for him, accompanied by some friends. A romantic moment. So, some frantic dancing for a bit and a piper then led the guests out onto the terrace for the fireworks. ( Still pretty light just before 11 pm. As I headed back to my overnight stay there was light still on the horizon and a bright star above. Actually, not a star but a British Army flare, as they must have been on night manoeuvres nearby. Another element of that landscape. )
Here are a few images from this North Yorkshire wedding…
Thank you Martin for these wonderful photos – you captured the happiness of our day so perfectly. Everyone we show them to has been blown away by how fantastic they are!
Congratulations.
Beautiful photos of a lovely wedding. I hope everything went well according to plan.
