Llantilio House | Grace & Nathan

Llantilio House wedding

Monmouthshire, Wales and a Spring wedding for Grace and Nathan at the relatively new venue, and very impressive, Llantilio House. A Grade II listed farmhouse with a big barn for the wedding meal and dancing, and a cosy Calf Shed for a wedding ceremony. Surrounded by open fields, quiet and with views of both local landmarks, Sugar Loaf and the Skirrid. A wedding that all took place at the same venue. No driving from A to B to C.

Situated between Abergavenny and Monmouth, Llantilio House has been very beautifully restored as a luxurious wedding venue. I’ve seen many such venues, but this one stands out, with the detail and care put into the restoration. All very tastefully done. Proper money was spent on this and no cutting corners. As it says on their website, “From the outset, Llantilio House has aspired to be a carbon negative wedding venue by combining tradition with next generation technology. Rather than oil or gas, the venue is heated by heat pumps and 4.5km of ground source pipes. Hot water is created locally using heat from the buildings and mini ground-source heaters. And the pool/spa is filtered using the same science behind natural swimming ponds which negates the need for chlorine.” But also, the venue seemed very well run. I was impressed.

Being a Spring wedding, the weather was a bit erratic. It clouded over and got a bit chilly, so the wedding reception crowded onto the canopied terrace. It even rained at times. But when everyone went into the main barn for dinner, the weather did what it so often does at UK weddings: the sunshine appeared. It did mean a quick sunset picture was possible before the dancing started. Not every summer wedding will get that light!

I left as the dancing carried on, with the sun finally dipping below the horizon, for a long drive back to Sussex. Here are a few images from this Llantilio wedding…
