Wedding in Greece : Day Three

The after-wedding party
Drag queens, something new at a wedding party that I’ve shot. Technically, the after-wedding party, day three of wedding celebrations on the island of Tinos. Back to the beach, at the Odera hotel, in the afternoon, for a ceremony amidst fake ruined Greek columns and two thrones, there was an ancient Greek Gods and Goddesses theme. Most guests had packed a fancy dress costume in the style of Bacchus, Eros and many “I’ve no idea who they are…” Drinks in the shade first, and the wind had finally died down, which was really required for the plastic columns. Jeremy appeared as Poseidon (I think? He was carrying a Trident) and sat on his throne, the guests gathered behind the thrones. Olia was then carried on a litter (sedan chair) across the beach to sit in the other throne seat. The sacred flame was lit and the dancers, in ancient Greek costumes began their performance. This included a display of wrestling.
Games on the beach
Now, it was time for some competitive games on the beach. Tug-of-war, shot putt, archery, sack races and a game where guests, in teams, had to race into the sea and fill small urns with water. The first team to fill their large container on the beach was the winner. A buffet meal awaited over at the other end of the beach, at the Nosti Beach Bar and Restaurant. As the light faded, it was time for the party to start and to kick it off, three drag queens from London, led by Jonny Woo, emerged from the dark. They certainly got the guests dancing. Some of the actors from earlier in the day joined in too, as the party went on until late.
