Lewes Registry Office | Rosie & Jake
Lewes Registry office wedding
Lewes Registry office, otherwise known as Southover Grange, was the location for Rosie and Jake’s wedding in June. Before the excessive heat of the summer of 2022. Coverage begins with Rosie and her friends getting ready at her mother’s house near Mayfield in East Sussex. Once ready, Rosie’s Stepfather drove her down to Lewes in his pride and joy, a vintage sports car.
With some restrictions still, thanks to Covid, the guests had to wait for a time on the pavement outside. Rosie did final prep in the car park opposite. Soon, she was walked down the small aisle at Lewes Registry office, by her mother. A very different arrangement as to where they stood from the last time I was at this venue. But in a way, perched over the Registrar’s shoulder, it made the ‘triumphant shot’ better. They say the best photography is when you are close. (Not always true…)
Southover Grange is a sixteenth-century old house, sat in its own public garden now, in the centre of Lewes. So there were plenty of locals enjoying the weather as Rose and Jake emerged with their wedding guests after the ceremony. Lots of hugs before the guests lined up to wave Rosie and Jake off. I cadged a lift with them back to the house.
Back at the house, once the wedding guests had arrived, Rosie and Jake made an entrance in a confetti blizzard. Drinks on the lawn. Even a coconut shy near the marquee. After almost a couple of hours, it was time to head in for the dinner in the marquee at the end of the garden – with a view of the Sussex countryside. Speeches followed. along with a bit more coconut-shy action, before the dancing started.
