Best London Wedding Photographer Award….again!

Winner - Best Wedding Photographer - London & the South-East 2016 at The Wedding Industry Awards 2016 (TWIA)

Lightning does strike twice it seems, I won this award last year too. 🙂

So this was last night, at the London & South-East regional awards ceremony, held at Morden Hall in South London. Once I found the venue - google maps on smart phones isn't that clever it seems! I definitely didn't expect to retain this title, but it was worth a punt? It's a rare award that combines the feedback from clients over the past twelve months and the appraisal of your work by professional photographer judges. So a massive thank you to all of my clients who took the time to vote for me and leave reviews. (A couple did email to say sorry for missing the deadline). I don't get to see these comments, as a regional winner, until after the National Final next January. I know who voted but not what they said...yet. But as a change to last year, Damian read out a comment from a client for each winner, as he announced the name of the winners. From what was said, I've a pretty strong hunch which mine was - it came all the way from a couple in New York! 😉 Nice to hear the 'ten out of ten' at the end of the quote!

Best London Wedding Photographer 2016

There had been a change this year, with London and The South-East regions being split apart initially. Living in Sussex, I was entered in the South-East region - one of the biggest categories. No shortage of wedding photographers in the South-East of England! But I began my wedding season in 2015 with a London wedding and I'll end it, as the year closes, with another wedding in London. In fact London weddings are a big feature of my work, they will be again next year, so it was nice for me that the categories were recombined. (I had time last night, to wander around where I used to live in London, before heading on the tube to Morden, my old haunt of Balham).

Award for Best London wedding photographer 2016

So, onwards and upwards. A nice boost to finish the year and I look forward to the weddings I have (and hopefully will have) next year. Already looking like a busy year. As I said last year, thank you to my clients and the judges for this award. Above all though, thank you to all my clients from this past year, for their faith in my style of documentary wedding photography in capturing their day. I now need to push my work further, to earn this award still.

(Also nice that my friend Lyndsey Goddard, won Highly Commended in this category too!)
