Brighton Pavilion wedding – Justine & Paul

Brighton Pavilion wedding photography
A Brighton Pavilion wedding on a bright winter’s day for Justine and Paul. This was a small wedding of close friends and family and judging from the comments said to me – it was long overdue! 😉
Justine and Paul have been together for ten years but on Saturday they sealed that relationship in the Red Drawing room of the Prince Regent’s old pad. An Indian architectural fantasy sat amid an English seaside town – a Sussex landmark, a world landmark. Begun in the eighteenth century as a residence for The Prince of Wales ( future King George IV ) it could probably tell many a saucy tale if the walls could talk. Maybe it was Victorian prudishness that led the diminutive queen to flog it to the local council. Or she just preferred the Isle of Wight to the Sussex coast, but whatever the reason, it’s now going from strength to strength as a tourist attraction and a top Sussex wedding venue. Its real name is The Royal Pavilion – not a bad place to get married!
But back to the day. Back to a very nervous looking groom sat in the drawing-room waiting, as Justine’s niece skipped and danced as she led the bride to the Pavilion. In the soft light, they sealed it. Paul may regret leaning back as Justine went to kiss him, he said he thought they couldn’t do that then – he may get reminded of this on every anniversary! 🙂
It was then a short walk in the winter sunshine, past the Town Hall and through one of those slim alleyways Brighton is famous for, to the Hotel Du Vin. Drinks on the gallery were followed by a wedding meal in the Bistro. A quick dash onto the promenade for photos in front of a glorious sunset – very nice but a cold wind blowing. With the sundown, it was then time for another short stroll through an alleyway to the next street and The Coach House for the evening reception. More friends and some dancing. A lovely, simple wedding full of the right ingredients – love, family and friends ( and beer ).
Here are a few images from this Brighton Pavilion wedding…

Great work! So inspiring!
A great set of images as always Martin! Love the dancing shots especially 🙂
Saw the silhouette of the pavilion and thought this was a wedding I had to view and wow, I wasn’t disappointed! Love your use of flare and light throughout, and the strength of your black and whites, particularly inside during the reception. Agree with Adam that the dancing shots are super too.
lovely work – this looks like a great fun filled wedding! Love the sunset photos!
Great work, awesome venue and loving those sunset shots too!
Masterful documentary work Martin, fantastic throughout.
Excellent work Martin, from the word go is a top selection of images with great processing too. Love the variety of documentary work with some relaxed portraits.
Awesome work Martin! The comp with the couple set against the hanging lights is just brilliant (no pun intended).
Beautifully documented. I have serious venue envy and it looks like a really fun party.
Love that venue! You’ve captured it perfectly.
Fantastic Martin, I particularly like the nervous groom blowing his cheeks out.
It’s a lovely venue, the Pavillion. Stunning portraits and great set.
We were so pleased with the photos of our wedding, and the fact that Martin had prepared his blog so quickly, we were able to see a selection of the photos whilst on honeymoon, which was fantastic and brought some great memories back which we had totally forgotten about.
Being a fairly camera shy couple, Martin made us feel really comfortable, and to get such a great selection of shots with minimal formal posing, was exactly what we had hoped for.
Having one of our images printed in The Times was extra special, and a tribute to the quality of Martins photography skills.
Thanks again,
Paul & Justine x
