Weddings in 2024

Weddings in 2024 – May to December
Weddings in 2024 started in May for me, with a small wedding at the Waterside Inn in Berkshire and ended in December in Kent, in some very wintry weather. In between I also captured weddings in Sussex, Surrey, Suffolk, London, Cambridge, Bath and Shropshire. More on that Shropshire wedding in a bit, as there was something very unique about that particular job for me.
Weddings varied in size and expense. Small intimate weddings in a restaurant to super large marquees in sunlit fields. I think the amount spent on fine cigars at one was more than my fee… The weather was a big factor in 2024 as well, with a fair amount of rain around all summer. There were several private gardens but also wedding venues I’ve shot at before – The Waterside Inn, Langshott Manor, Cissbury Barns, Slaugham Place, Queens’ College (Cambridge), Ridge Farm, Highley Manor and Slindon House. I am already booked for another wedding at Slindon House this year. Then there were venues which were firsts for me. The Roman Baths in Bath, Morden Hall in London, The Victorian Bath House in London (the darkest, technically most difficult venue I’ve ever shot at – see a blog post about dark wedding venues coming soon). Also The Royal Hospital Chelsea, Oak Tree Barn in Kent and a lovely venue in Suffolk, Easton Grange (see that here).
Then, out of all of the weddings in 2024, there was that wedding in Shropshire. Why unique for me? The first wedding I’ve photographed, in over 1000 covered, that had a family connection for me. A ceremony in the village church, in Cheswardine, where my ancestors, James and Mary got married on Christmas Day in 1839. As the groom said, “I was coming home”. Have a look here and read about the strange circumstances surrounding the death of James and Mary’s son, also called James. Was he murdered? Have a read!
So enough waffle, it’s the pictures that count. So here are 100 images from weddings in 2024…
