Hanbury Manor wedding – Helen & Thomas

Wedding Photography at Hanbury Manor
Hanbury Manor, near Ware in Hertfordshire, was the venue for Helen and Thomas’s wedding, under blue skies. A Jacobean-style manor house still sits within a huge Marriott hotel and country club. It’s where Paul Gascoigne got married to Sheryl, many years ago and where, to be revealed in the speeches later, fate took a hand for Thomas! This location, for their wedding, was no coincidence…
The old house itself is late nineteenth century, built in a Jacobean style. It’s been a home, a school and now a hotel. On this day, hosting a big golf tournament. But this wedding was centred around the large Poles Hall – once the chapel. Far from the golf.
Helen got ready upstairs with her sister and bridesmaids. Downstairs, Thomas – dressed in a kilt to mark Helen’s Scottish heritage – was greeting the wedding guests. They all waited in Poles Hall for the ceremony and waited. Helen was a tad late.
But the bagpiper struck up and led Helen and her father into the hall. Could have been in a Scottish castle (a bit warmer maybe?)
Drinks followed in the courtyard. One half in bright sunshine, the other in the shade. Meanwhile, Poles Hall was turned around for the wedding breakfast. Plus the speeches.
It pays to catch the wedding bouquet!
Now Thomas could reveal how this location had led to this day. At a wedding at Hanbury Manor a few years ago, somehow Thomas had caught the wedding bouquet thrown by the bride. This means he had thwarted the romantic chances of the single women there. Helen wasn’t one of them. He met Helen a few days later. Probably good he did, there was a group of single women not too pleased with him probably?
If the sun comes, at the end of the day, use it! The sun came to Hanbury Manor.
Blue skies all day, the odds were good for that sunset, evening glow (between 7 and 7.30 pm at this time of year). It came, we got out onto the golf course – they kissed, the sun glowed. Simple as that.
Then back inside for the dancing…
Here are a few images from Helen and Thomas’s wedding at Hanbury Manor…

The cover image blick looks so smooth and no flair at all. What lens did you use?
