Reportage wedding photography at The Copse
The Copse, a luxurious house, situated down a narrow single lane track, in a quiet part of the Oxfordshire countryside. A canvas for Alice and Matt to create their wedding day (weekend) on. All you need is for the weather to play ball in September. It sort of did…there were blue skies, there was sunshine and there was rain. The rain waited until everyone had sat down to eat. It was slowly stopping as the guests walked across, plates in hands, to tuck into Greek and Argentinian dishes. But that was later…
The Copse…as they say on their website...“When you hire The Copse as your wedding venue it becomes your home. The space is yours to create as you wish your dream wedding weekend.”
How to plan and hold a wedding – especially when you are creative.
So the photos…Alice got ready upstairs with her parents and friends, as below Matt tended to the final details. The guests gathered in the covered courtyard, ready for the ceremony to begin. It began with tears – good ones. A confetti run after, to the outdoor bar. Drinks in the sunshine – a quick portrait in the field, while the sun was still out. Some competitive coconut throwing. A friend playing guitar on the balcony. The second set, from there, came from Alice’s brother and father. A quick group picture across the pond and then into the dining area. First the FOB speech, then rain and the food. Followed, in the rapidly fading light, by Matt and his best man. More laughter and tears. Ice cream around the open fire, before the dancing, back in the courtyard.
This is how to create a wedding – plenty to drink and eat – good friends and family – and a relaxed vibe. One of the most relaxed weddings I’ve documented.
Here are just a few images from this day at The Copse…
