Henfield wedding | Kat & Rog

A mid-June wedding in Henfield, West Sussex, for a local couple. A fairly local wedding for me and a last-minute wedding booking *. Kat only got in touch five weeks before the wedding day. I believe they had considered not hiring a wedding photographer, but Kat found me via my Instagram feed. It turned out to be a very relaxed wedding day for Kat and Rog (rhymes with dog!)
Coverage kicked off with Kat getting ready at their home in the village. A short walk across the high street to St Peter’s church – Kat would arrive with her father and bridesmaids in the big camper van. Rog had been getting guests outside the church until the last minute. Also in the campervan was their black Labrador, Luna, with a ring bearer duty. The ceremony started and Kat was escorted down the aisle by her father. Everything was ready, but the music went on and on and on… When the organist had finally finished the piece, there was applause and a cheer. Kat and her father could have walked up and down the aisle many times. The ceremony itself was punctuated with singing from Brighton’s Bright Soul Choir.
Ceremony complete, Kat and Rog exited the church, then followed the vicar around to the back of the church, leaving the guests to form up outside the church and across the road for the confetti ambush. Luna walked the confetti gauntlet with them. Back in the campervan and off to the wedding reception, just outside the village, with the South Downs as a backdrop. The reception was in the extensive gardens at a friend’s house. Drinks and canapes in the sunshine, with pianist Joe Ward adding music to the occasion. Then, into the open-sided marquee for the meal and speeches. Rog’s daughter (hugged by her daughter) and Kat’s son, both making speeches. No formal first dance as such, just everyone onto the dance floor once the wedding cake and been cut.
Here are a few images from this Henfield wedding…
- I asked Kat about why such a last-minute booking. Had another booking with a wedding photographer fallen through? She replied…
” No….we didn’t have another photographer….i just wasn’t sure I wanted anything ‘official’ because I hate posing for photos. When I saw your Insta I loved what you did, so very happy you were free at such short notice! “
