Trinity College wedding – Melanie & Angus

Trinity College Oxford wedding

Reportage wedding photography at Trinity College

Trinity College in Oxford, a return for Melanie and Angus, back from living in the USA – for their wedding. where it all started. Where Melanie realized Angus was ‘the one’!

Preps, ceremony, reception, meal and dancing – all within the confines of this old college. All within just a few yards (metres) of each other. With the poor weather, it became pretty much an indoor wedding (some challenging light to photograph in!) You would be hard-pushed to find a more down-to-earth, chilled, friendly and happy couple than Mel and Gus. So the weather wasn’t a big deal to them – with a honeymoon in Western Ireland – merely a rehearsal with the elements.

College Chapel wedding ceremony

So coverage begins with Angus helping his best man, Fred, dress like a true Scotsman. Melanie’s father had a kilt to put on too. He had expected this when Melanie first told him of her engagement to Angus…

Scottish drizzle outside. Melanie was getting ready across the courtyard from the chapel – past the scaffolding, arranged around the Dining Hall. A room with a view – of guests arriving in the rain, being greeted by Angus. Soon it was time for Barrie to accompany Melanie across the courtyard, before walking down the aisle. A last-minute hitch when the ring bearer bailed and handed over that duty to his mum – Angus’s sister.

Married!

Confetti bombardment under the arch and back round to the Beer Cellar. Built three hundred+ years ago, as a place to produce and store beer, it sits under the Dining Hall (When it was being built it caused the old Hall to collapse….been solid since). Now the College bar. Drinks and strawberries, before back upstairs to feast in the Hall. Even a few minutes to get some air outside when the rain finally stopped. Speeches to follow, before back down to the cellar and the world’s smallest venue for a ceilidh!! 😉

To hell with the weather, weddings are about sharing time with family and friends, drink and food and dancing (dodging the pillars…). About having a good time!

Here are a few images from this Trinity College wedding…
