WPJA Awards Q4 2011 contest

Well it wouldn’t have amounted to a medal if it had been at The Olympics but nice to get a placing in the latest WPJA contest.

One of my images from a wedding last November was placed 14th in the Q4 2011 contest of the WPJA ( Wedding Photojournalist Association ) awards – in the ‘Bride getting ready’ category. There are twenty places up for grabs in each category.

A start at least, as I’ve never been one for entering competitions. ( I once had a book thrown at me across the newsroom by a picture editor for not entering my Windsor Castle Fire front page photo in the annual Press photography awards ).  But still, nice to gain an ‘award’ for another shot from this particular Sussex wedding, after the success in the Fearless awards a few weeks ago.

Martin, stop selling yourself short – it’s a beautiful picture, compelling and different. And you’re in great company there: 14th in the whole wide world isn’t too shabby – WELL DONE 🙂

(and for the record I’d have put yours nearer the top too!)
