A Hove wedding at The Claremont Hotel | Katherine & Jack

Hove wedding

Hove wedding photography

A Hove wedding, a Sussex wedding by the coast. A small winter wedding, on a memorable date.  The groom, Jack, mentioned it in his speech, but getting married on “Remember, remember the fifth of November” will certainly help when it comes to remembering the wedding anniversary date in years to come.

Katherine and Jack were married in a small and intimate ceremony at the luxury boutique hotel The Claremont, just yards from the seafront in Hove, Sussex. The weather forecast had looked dreadful in the week leading up to the day with heavy rain predicted. As it was it held off, so the proposed sparkler fest in the hotel garden (700 sparklers on standby), instead of a first dance, could take place without umbrellas. That is not to say it wasn’t chaotic though! Handing sparklers to people after a few drinks…meant a few lit them up and then just ran around the garden. The weather also gave us a couple of minutes down on the beach to catch the last of the soft winter sun. But it seemed a seagull circling above took exception to this and decided that Katherine’s wedding dress was too good a target to miss!

(Not long after this wedding I raised some money for Prostate cancer. As a wedding photographer, there are always requests from other suppliers and venues for free images. So I answered such requests (even demands sometimes…) that in return they pay a donation to go to the cancer charity. We raised £200. Several agreed to donate, several didn’t. Only one venue agreed to pay, the Claremont Hotel! Several big hotel chains declined.)

We got married on the 5th of November and Martin was excellent as our photographer. He had an easy going nature throughout the day and you felt totally relaxed – and natural – in his company. He took some really lovely photos of our wedding guests, that captured their personalities brilliantly.

He was also really excited about the idea we had beforehand, to get all of our guests outside with sparklers. The photos he took were truly lovely and captured the joy of the moment perfectly. He is a great reportage photographer and we were immensely pleased with the final photographs, as they capture the essence of the day so well!

Thank you Martin for a brilliant job well done! X
