Royal Pavilion wedding – Jennifer & David

A Royal Pavilion wedding in Brighton for Jenny and David. A small, intimate family wedding by the Sussex seaside. Just twenty people, including the bride and groom. All close family from  around the country and abroad. Jenny and David came from their home in Southport, as did other family members. As they did from Dorset, Wales and France. They chose one of Sussex’s most famous landmarks, the Royal Pavilion, for their wedding ceremony. A slice of exotic “India” by the sea. The Prince Regent’s old seaside retreat.

Unusually for the Royal Pavilion, as David and other guests arrived, so another wedding party was filing out of The Red Drawing Room. That’s if they can make their way though the hordes of tourists. The Royal Pavilion is a very different place in the summer compared to the winter. As is Brighton – if the sun is out, it’s very busy!! The sun was out as David and the guests made their way into the drawing room. Jenny then arrived by classic Rolls Royce, once it had managed to slowly navigate it’s way through the crowds of French schoolchildren.

The ceremony was pretty quick. Then some photos around the Pavilion, trying to avoid the scaffolding there at the moment. Then more on the lawn, before everyone made their way to the George I room at the Grand hotel on Brighton’s seafront. Brighton’s smartest and most famous luxury hotel. The weather had changed though. It was now very cloudy. The cloud came earlier than forecasted. The beach had emptied, as July went into ‘autumnal’ mode, it seemed. In contrast the massive Asian wedding taking place downstairs, Jenny and David’s reception was simple and quiet. Drinks in a side room, before dinner (and some very nice wine!)

We popped out for some pictures in the bandstand, just along the promenade from The Grand. The weather had helped empty it. Sadly no sunset though. Then back to the hotel for the speeches.

A simple, nice, small Royal Pavilion wedding….here are a few images from the day…
